Structure
Gonadorelin is identical to native GnRH (pGlu-His-Trp-Ser-Tyr-Gly-Leu-Arg-Pro-Gly-NH₂). It stimulates the release of LH and FSH from the pituitary.
State of research
Research covers the hypothalamic–pituitary–gonadal axis, pulsatile versus continuous GnRH exposure and GnRH receptor desensitisation.
Status
Gonadorelin is approved as a diagnostic agent and veterinary medicine and is on the WADA Prohibited List (for males).
