What is TB-500?
The name TB-500 is used inconsistently. In the literature it often denotes a short fragment of seven amino acids (LKKTETQ); in trade it usually means the complete protein thymosin beta-4. Our lab report distinguishes the two and identifies our TB-500 as complete thymosin beta-4 (molar mass 4,963 g/mol, CAS 77591-33-4). Why this matters is explained in TB-500 vs. thymosin beta-4.
Research status
Thymosin beta-4 occurs in almost every cell. Its best-known role is binding actin, the building block of the cytoskeleton, which influences how cells move. Cell and animal models describe effects on cell migration, new blood vessel formation and wound healing in skin, cornea and heart. Small clinical studies used special formulations such as eye drops; for the short fragment there are no human efficacy studies.
Status
TB-500 and thymosin beta-4 are not approved as medicines in the EU and are on the World Anti-Doping Agency's prohibited list. We sell TB-500 exclusively as a research reagent, without usage or dosing advice.
