What is ACE-031?
ACE-031 joins the extracellular domain of human ActRIIB to the Fc portion of IgG1. As a ligand trap it binds myostatin, activins and other ligands of the receptor.

State of research
Myostatin restrains muscle growth, and animals without functional myostatin have strikingly large muscle mass. ACE-031 uses the ActRIIB receptor as a "trap": it captures myostatin, activins and other ligands before they reach muscle cells.
In mouse models muscle mass rose markedly. A phase I trial in healthy postmenopausal women showed an increase in lean mass. The subsequent trial in boys with Duchenne muscular dystrophy was stopped in 2011 because of nosebleeds and dilated skin vessels. The likely reason is that ACE-031 also binds vascular signals (BMP9/10). More selective successor molecules followed.
Status and quality
ACE-031 is not approved as a medicine and is on the WADA Prohibited List. Peptidkauf sells ACE-031 solely as a research reagent for laboratory and in-vitro use and gives no dosing or application advice.
An independent laboratory tests every batch for purity (HPLC), identity and measured content before it goes on sale; the reports and their verification keys are in the lab report archive. The material ships as lyophilised powder in a glass vial; storage and laboratory handling are covered under storage & handling.
