IGF-1 LR3
Extended IGF-1 analogue with low binding to IGF-binding proteins; a standard reagent in cell culture.

Structure
IGF-1 LR3 consists of the 70 amino acids of IGF-1 with arginine instead of glutamic acid at position 3 and a 13-amino-acid N-terminal extension (83 amino acids in total). It therefore barely binds to IGFBPs and stays biologically available for longer.
State of research
It is used mainly in cell and tissue culture to stimulate growth and proliferation and to study the IGF-1 receptor (PI3K/Akt, MAPK).
Status
IGF-1 LR3 is not approved as a medicinal product and is on the WADA Prohibited List.
