Structure
SNAP-8 (Ac-EEMQRRAD-NH₂) is a variant of acetyl hexapeptide-3 (argireline) extended by two amino acids. Both mimic a section of SNAP-25.
Research focus
In models the peptide competes with SNAP-25 for SNARE complex formation, reducing exocytosis of acetylcholine vesicles. It is studied mainly in cell models and dermatological formulation studies.
Status
SNAP-8 is listed as a cosmetic ingredient (INCI: Acetyl Octapeptide-3).
