Structure
5-Amino-1-methylquinolinium is a small, positively charged molecule (small molecule), not a peptide. It has been described as a selective NNMT inhibitor.
Research focus
NNMT methylates nicotinamide and thereby affects NAD⁺ and methyl-group metabolism. In adipocyte cultures and animal models, researchers study how inhibiting the enzyme changes lipogenesis, energy expenditure and cellular NAD⁺ levels.
Status
The data come from preclinical studies. In the NAD+ + MOTS-c + 5-Amino-1MQ blend, 5-Amino-1MQ is combined with MOTS-c and NAD⁺.
