What is DSIP?
DSIP was first described as a factor promoting slow delta waves in the EEG of animals, hence the name. It has nine amino acids (848.8 g/mol). Unusually, neither a clear gene nor a specific receptor is known to this day.
Research status
Studies examined sleep architecture, stress responses, body temperature and the endocrine system. Results are inconsistent and much of the work dates from the 1980s and 1990s; rigorous recent studies are rare.
