What is epitalon?
Epitalon has four amino acids (390.4 g/mol) and was developed in St Petersburg after the model of a bovine pineal extract. Both spellings refer to the same peptide.
Research status
Cell studies report that epitalon activates telomerase and lengthens telomeres; an independent 2025 study confirmed this in normal human cells. Animal studies on lifespan and tumours are mixed, and good controlled studies with the pure peptide in humans are missing. More in Epitalon: what telomere studies show.
Status
Not approved. Research use only. A more stable variant is N-acetyl epitalon amidate.
