What is GHRP-6?
GHRP-6 (His-D-Trp-Ala-Trp-D-Phe-Lys-NH2, 873.0 g/mol) was developed in the 1980s from enkephalin analogues, when its receptor was still unknown. The search for its target led to the receptor GHS-R1a and later to the endogenous ligand ghrelin.
Research status
Beyond growth hormone release, studies examine appetite regulation via the ghrelin pathway and protective effects in heart and liver models. GHRP-6 strongly increases appetite, unlike more selective substances such as ipamorelin.
Status
Not approved and on the anti-doping prohibited list. Research use only.
