KPV

KPV is a tripeptide (Lys-Pro-Val) matching amino acids 11 to 13 of the hormone α-MSH. Unlike the full hormone it barely affects pigmentation but retains anti-inflammatory properties. It is studied mainly in gut and skin models.

Research profile

What is KPV?

With three amino acids (342.4 g/mol), KPV is one of the smallest bioactive peptides in the range. It comes from the end of α-melanocyte-stimulating hormone, which regulates inflammation as well as tanning.

What does KPV do?

In studies KPV inhibits the inflammatory NF-κB pathway and lowers inflammatory messengers, mainly in models of inflammatory bowel disease and skin. Some work concerns uptake through the gut peptide transporter PepT1 and nanoparticle carriers. The data are preclinical.

Status

Not approved. Research use only. Also available as capsules and combined with BPC-157 or GHK-Cu.
