KPV

Tripeptide Lys-Pro-Val, the C-terminal fragment of alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone (α-MSH 11–13), studied in inflammation models.

Substance classPeptide
SequenceKPV

Synonymsα-MSH(11–13), Lys-Pro-Val
PubChemCID 125672

Structure

KPV corresponds to amino acids 11–13 of α-MSH. Unlike the full hormone it shows little melanotropic activity in studies but retains anti-inflammatory properties.

Research focus

Studies examine inhibition of NF-κB signalling and pro-inflammatory cytokines, including models of inflammatory bowel disease and skin inflammation. Part of the work addresses uptake via the peptide transporter PepT1 and nanoparticle carrier systems.

Status

The evidence is preclinical; there is no marketing authorisation.
